Spill & Bleed – Echoes of the Dancefloor

With Spill & Bleed, the exhibition title draws on two terms from audio engineering that describe the echoing of sounds into unintended places. Rave and dancefloor cultures are currently undergoing a similar process: they are surfacing in new contexts, resonating with diverse audiences and influencing multiple disciplines and genres.
Spill & Bleed explores the temporalities and politics of the dancefloor — a space where time twists sideways, loops backwards and refuses to always move forward.

Mit Spill & Bleed greift der Ausstellungstitel zwei Begriffe aus der Audiotechnik auf, die das Auftauchen von Sound an dafür nicht bestimmten Orten beschreiben. Ein vergleichbarer Prozess lässt sich derzeit in der Rave- und Dancefloor-Kultur beobachten: Sie tritt in neuen Kontexten in Erscheinung, spricht ein vielfältiges Publikum an und beeinflusst unterschiedliche Disziplinen und Genres.

Die Gruppenausstellung im Salzamt Linz versammelt Arbeiten an der Schnittstelle von zeitgenössischer Kunst und Clubkultur. Spill & Bleed stellt Fragen nach den Zeitstrukturen und Politiken des Dancefloors – einem Raum, in dem sich Zeit seitwärts oder rückwärts bewegen kann und sich so dem linearen Fortschreiten entzieht.
