Ich als Haus versammelt Arbeiten von Sonnhild Essl und Beate Gatschelhofer, die sich mit Wohnraum als strukturellem, sozialem, persönlichem und räumlichem Zustand auseinandersetzen. Der gebaute Raum fungiert dabei nicht nur als architektonische Hülle, sondern als Speicher von Veränderungen und Erinnerungen.Architektur wird als relationales System lesbar, in dem sich Subjekt, Geschichte und gebauter Kontext gegenseitig bedingen. Zentrale Motive wie Fenster, Fassaden und architektonische Fragmente fungieren als Schwellenräume, in denen sich Fragen nach Materialität und Form, Innen und Außen, sozialer Zuschreibung, Herkunft und Identität artikulieren. Zwischen Baustelle und Behausung entsteht ein Zustand des Dazwischen. Materialität spielt zudem eine zentrale Rolle in den gezeigten Arbeiten. Alltagsfragmente sowie transformierte Stofflichkeiten und Baustellenelemente werden aus ihrem funktionalen Kontext gelöst und entwickeln sich zu einem visuellen Archiv des Übergangs, in dem sich urbane Zeitlichkeit, materielle und persönliche Veränderung und Wahrnehmung überlagern. Dabei interessiert weniger die Rekonstruktion eines konkreten Bauwerks als vielmehr die Logik des Übergangs selbst – das ständige Umschlagen von Material in Struktur, von Funktion in Form, von Stabilität in Fragilität.Die Ausstellung bewegt sich im Spannungsfeld von Konstruktion und Dekonstruktion, Verdichtung und Fragmentierung und versteht den Raum als relationales System, in dem sich Subjekt, Geschichte und persönlicher Kontext gegenseitig bedingen. Skulpturale, fotografische und installative Arbeiten verbinden sich zu einem räumlichen Gefüge, das zwischen Innen- und Außenraum, privatem Rückzug und öffentlicher Sichtbarkeit oszilliert. Zwischen Fragment und Erinnerung, Konstruktion und Zerfall entsteht ein offener Raum, in dem Architektur als lesbares Medium erscheint.

Die Serie L.A.S.S.O. (Local Artists Solo Show Observations) zeigt Arbeiten Linzer Künstler*innen, die ein Salzamt- oder LINZ AG- Atelier nutzen.

Ich als Haus brings together works by Sonnhild Essl and Beate Gatschelhofer that explore living space as a structural, social, personal, and spatial condition. In this context, the built environment functions not merely as an architectural shell, but as a repository of change and memory.
Architecture becomes legible as a relational system in which subject, history, and built context are mutually dependent. Central motifs such as windows, facades, and architectural fragments function as threshold spaces in which questions of materiality and form, interior and exterior, social attribution, origin, and identity are articulated. Between construction site and dwelling, a state of in-between emerges.
Materiality also plays a central role in the works on display. Fragments of everyday life, as well as transformed materials and construction site elements, are detached from their functional context and evolve into a visual archive of transition, in which urban temporality, material and personal change, and perception overlap. The focus here is less on the reconstruction of a specific building and more on the logic of transition itself—the constant transformation of material into structure, of function into form, of stability into fragility.
The exhibition navigates the tension between construction and deconstruction, condensation and fragmentation, and conceives of space as a relational system in which subject, history, and personal context are mutually interdependent. Sculptural, photographic, and installation works come together to form a spatial structure that oscillates between interior and exterior space, private retreat, and public visibility. Between fragment and memory, construction and decay, an open space emerges in which architecture appears as a legible medium.

The series L.A.S.S.O. (Local Artists Solo Show Observations) presents works by Linz-based artists who use a Salzamt or LINZ AG studio.
