FMR 23 – Festival for Art in Digital Contexts and Public Spaces

Only two months left until the start of FMR 23!

The anticipation is rising, the list of participating artists is getting longer and the production is in full swing. On Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 6 p.m., the third edition of LINZ FMR, the festival for art in digital contexts and public spaces, will open in Linz‘s southern harbour area.

FMR 23 brings to Linz a large exhibition centered around venues such as the allotment garden association Linz-Ost, the hello yellow Velodrom by Schachermayer, the Linz-Lustenau climate oasis, the Linzer Stadtalm, the LINZ AG leisure and sports facility, the ASKÖ sport boat harbour Linz and the former Woolworth Center in Industriezeile. On display will be works by renowned and up-and-coming artists from the fields of media art, digital art and Internet art, including:

The program also includes lectures and artist talks on topics such as #ephemeralization, #ecodigitality, #blackout, #mobility, #circularity, #wildcomputation, #cooling, #decoupling or #digitalaesthetics. Performances from the field of electronic music will be offered in addition to the Opening Night also at a Concert Night on Friday, June 9, among others with Stefano D’Alessio (IT), Floating Spectrum (TW), SØS Gunver Ryberg (DK), Francesco Luzzana & Sofia Casprini (IT), Antenes (US), Antonia XM (AT), Sturmherta (AT). In addition, there will be daily performances by the participating artists on the festival grounds as well as guided tours with art educators and curators.

Responsible for the festival is the association „LINZ FMR – art in digital contexts and public spaces“. It was founded by the two art and cultural initiatives qujOchÖ and servus.at, Atelierhaus Salzamt of the City of Linz, University of Arts Linz and Sturm und Drang Gallery. Their representatives have been involved in the conception, organization and curation of the festival since its first edition in March 2019.
